What do seahorses feel like?
Though seahorses are a type of fish, they feel nothing like normal fish. They have a tough layer of skin stretched over bony rings, so seahorses feel like they are covered in plates of armor. They lack scales, and often the bony rings stick out in areas, forming spines for protection. Some seahorses can grow skin filaments that are long and leafy to resemble the seaweed, sponges or corals in their habitat. With these additions, seahorses can look and feel more like their surroundings.
